This is a relatively small botanical garden, but a lovely place to spend an hour or two. My adult daughter and I particularly enjoyed the carnivorous plants, which are blooming in June, and the exten… Full review by AABerry

Why has the garden been left to 'go natural'? It seems that the only thing being cultivated are those things that spread on their own (e.g. ferns) or old un-kept rosemary bushes. Knee-high, weedy-looking, repetitive areas of re-seeders abound. We have been going here for years, yet now my family just wanted to get a crew with weed-eaters in there. And the fact that you banned bottles of water from being sold by your two food truck vendors (yet allowed aluminum canned soda) at the recent plant sale with temperatures in the 90's really topped off our sense of disappointment.

I understand your frustration and thought the same about the area just going natural. Just the other week PBS did a show on this garden and they talked about the biological nature reserve too. Apparently, it being natural looking is to show the different regions all in one place, for example mountain plants/trees, Piedmont plants/trees and coastal plants/trees. Made sense after the show, but doesn't look the prettiest. I wish it were more like Duke Gardens but maybe they don't have the space or funding.
