The third Monday in February is Presidents Day in the United States. Originally meant to celebrate George Washington, the country’s first President, today it serves as a recognition of all of the nation’s Presidents.

Presidents Day is a federal holiday created to honor the first president of the United States, George Washington. Over time, it has also included the 16th president, Abraham Lincoln (both Lincoln and Washington were born in February). Some businesses will be closed or have adjusted hours today as a result of the holiday.
