ALTOONA – Three-time 3A state wrestling champion Bethlehem Catholic and highly-regarded Nazareth not only reside in the East Penn Conference and in District 11, they appear to be on a collision course to meet Saturday in the PIAA Class 3A Team Wrestling Championships at Altoona High School.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Sun Valley out of District 1 won their Class 3A pigtail bout over ELCO on Tuesday. The reward was a first round match against District 11 champion Bethlehem Catholic. At 133 pounds, the Golden Hawks Keanu Dillard, a two-time PIAA champion wastes no time to get the pin at 1:18 to put Becahi in front 27-4.

Nico Emili’s aggressive, bulldog personality does not lend itself well to being patient. But the Bethlehem Catholic freshman was just that in Friday’s PIAA Class 3A quarterfinal against Council Rock North’s A.

The Bethlehem Catholic team won its fourth straight PIAA Class 3A Team wrestling championship Saturday at Altoona High School by defeating Nazareth, 34-28. The contest was a re-match of the District 3 Class 3A championship final.

Before Friday’s PIAA 3A team wrestling quarterfinals got underway Friday night at their new location at the Altoona School District Field House, the buzz was all about the challenge Nazareth faced.
