Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries (RIL) has made a major foray into English cricket by acquiring a 49 per cent stake in the Oval Invincibles, a franchise in The Hundred, for GBP 60.27 million. The deal values the team at GBP 123 million and strengthens Ambani’s growing presence in global cricket.

Oval Invincibles is one of the most successful teams in The Hundred, having won the men’s tournament in the first two seasons. The team is currently owned by Surrey County Cricket Club, which will retain a 51% stake. The deal allows the RIL to conduct talks with Surrey for potential future ownership expansion.

The Ambani family, which also own the Mumbai Indians franchise in IPL, will take a 49% holding in Oval Invincibles, according to a person familiar with the matter.
