A 23-year-old from North Berwick and his mother were both taken into custody following a standoff that began Tuesday morning.

North Berwick police arrested two people after an hourslong standoff triggered by shots fired at a residence Tuesday, the department said. Officers arrested North Berwick resident Aiden Scott, 23, and his mother, Churi, police said in a written statement Tuesday evening. The department did not provide her last name in the statement.
