A new lawsuit accuses New Orleans city officials and city contractors of failing to stop the New Year’s Day truck attack on Bourbon Street.

A cohort of 21 survivors and relatives of victims killed in the New Year’s Day truck attack is suing city officials, accusing them of failing to take the appropriate safety precautions before the incident, despite knowing the French Quarter was vulnerable to an attack for nearly a decade.

Shock and grief have given way to finger-pointing over whether additional security could have stopped — or mitigated — the recent attack that killed 14 people in New Orleans.
