Mufasa: The Lion King is the live-action prequel to The Lion King, & while it is great, Disney is sitting on another prequel story that's even better.

We’re already having a huge year for musicals in Australia – but now, the world’s #1 musical is heading back Down Under, with Disney Theatrical Group announcing that an all new Australian staging of Disney’s The Lion King will premiere in Sydney from April next year – and we are excited to witness those iconic enormous giraffe puppets strut out onto the stage at the gorgeous Capitol Theatre.

Now, Disney+ is preparing to make a massive expansion of its Lion King collection by adding not just a new movie but a live concert event celebrating the original film as well. It's definitely great to be the king.

Mufasa: The Lion King is the newest instalment in Walt Disney Animation Studios' series of live-action stories. The adventure musical will be released on Disney+ Hotstar on February 18. Disney's Mufasa: The Lion King was one of the most anticipated films of 2024.
