The Texas Supreme Court on Friday dismissed an ethics complaint against Attorney General Ken Paxton, ending a nearly three-year battle over whether the state’s top legal officer should be sanctioned for conduct before the U.

The Texas Supreme Court on Friday dismissed an attempt by the State Bar to discipline Attorney General Ken Paxton for his efforts to overturn the 2020 election. The Bar had moved to drop the misconduct suit after the high court ruled in favor of Paxton’s first assistant Brent Webster in a similar case in December.

The state bar had sought to sanction Paxton, which could have carried a punishment ranging from a private reprimand to disbarment.
