Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay says he would like to know “sooner than later” about Matthew Stafford's status for next season. McVay provided no updates on his veteran quarterback's plans for the coming year when the coach held his end-of-season news conference Thursday,

Stafford was traded to the Rams from the Lions in January 2021 in what was a franchise-altering move for both teams, with Detroit landing quarterback Jared Goff in the swap. The Rams went on to win the Super Bowl in Stafford’s first season out West.

Matthew Stafford has a $4M roster bonus due in mid-March, and his contract has been set up as a “we’ll see” for 2025 and beyond. The money doesn’t create a hard deadline for a decision, but surely the Rams will want an idea of things 2 months from now.
