ST. LOUIS — A man died after his car hit a city trash truck head-on Thursday morning in north St. Louis, authorities said. The two-vehicle crash was about 10:20 a.m. at West Florissant and Arlington avenues. The man who died was driving a car on West Florissant, crossed the center line and hit the oncoming trash truck, police said.

One person is dead after their car collided head-to-head with a City of St. Louis trash truck Thursday morning. The incident took place at the intersection of West Florissant Avenue and Arlington Avenue in north St.

The crash happened at the same intersection where a woman and a 2-year-old child were hit and killed in January.

Police say it happened at the intersection of 35th Avenue and 13th Street in Astoria, and the driver and front passenger ran from the accident but the garbage truck driver stayed at the scene.
