USAID’s director of security and his deputy were placed on administrative leave Saturday after trying to prevent employees from the Depart of Government Efficiency from accessing secure USAID systems,

The move by DOGE, a Trump administration task force assigned to find ways to fire federal workers, cut programs and slash federal regulations, means it could have wide leeway to access important taxpayer data,

Trump is reportedly trying to close the agency and move it under the State Department, which Democrats warn would be illegal.
