A panel of experts is disputing the medical evidence used to convict British nurse Lucy Letby of murdering seven newborns and trying to kill seven others.

Citing an expert review of the prosecution's arguments, a lawyer for nurse Lucy Letby says there's "overwhelming evidence" she was wrongly convicted of murder.

The nurse is serving 15 whole life sentences after being found guilty of murdering seven babies and trying to kill seven others.

Lawyers for British nurse Lucy Letby on Tuesday launched a new bid to overthrow her conviction for killing seven babies, after a group of international medical experts who reexamined evidence used at her trial concluded none had actually been murdered.

During her trial, the jury was shown a number of notes Lucy Letby had written, which offered a glimpse into her state of mind at the time of the killings.

The panel was assembled by Dr Shoo Lee (R), a retired doctor based at the University of Toronto, who heads the Canadian Neonatal Foundation.

After assessing the cases of 17 babies at the heart of the British nurse’s murder trials, a panel of specialists said that they had found no evidence that Ms. Letby had murdered anyone.
