Carlos Alcaraz has missed training and began wearing a nasal strip as he battles a cold before the Rotterdam Open.

Carlos Alcaraz said on Sunday that the form of Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner is “crazy”, as the Spaniard prepared for his first match since losing in the quarterfinals in Melbourne.

Carlos Alcaraz arrived in Rotterdam a few days before the start of the tournament, in order to test the speed of the courts and get used to the conditions in view of his debut which will take place on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Carlos Alcaraz has given an update on his physical health after suffering from an illness in the build up to his debut at the Rotterdam Open. The 21-year-old will play world No 84 Botic van de Zandschulp in his first match at the ATP 500 tournament on Tuesday.

Australian Open, Carlos Alcaraz didn’t play any hard-court tournament before Indian Wells and preferred playing on the South American clay.
