Orlando City kicked off its Major League Soccer season with a 4-2 home loss to the Philadelphia Union on Saturday night. The setback marks the first time Orlando City has lost a home opener in its 11 MLS seasons.

For the first time since joining Major League Soccer in 2015, Orlando City fell in their season opener, shockingly losing 4-2 on Saturday night against the Philadelphia Union at Inter&Co Stadium. In his MLS debut for the Lions, Marco Pasalic shined bright, scoring both of Orlando's goals.

Matchups between the sides have been hard-fought over the years. Orlando City has won three of the last four, including both games in 2024.

Tai Baribo scored twice, Dániel Gazdag and Mikael Uhre scored once each, and Northeast Philadelphia-born rookie Frankie Westfield had a big game in his MLS debut.

Orlando City opens the 2025 MLS regular season against the Philadelphia Union Saturday night at Inter&Co Stadium. This is an Orlando team that has shipped off more personnel than it has signed. That has me worried, but I’m open to be proven wrong, especially in this first match.
