The 61-39 result tees up a final Saturday morning roll call vote on the Republican South Dakota governor’s Cabinet nomination.
The former South Dakota governor was read the oath by Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. The ceremony came after earlier Saturday the Senate voted to confirm Noem in a 59-34 vote.
Noem received 59 votes in favor and 34 votes against, easily clearing the simple majority threshold she needed for confirmation.
