New code suggests that Google could be working to make backlit remotes a standard feature on Google TV devices.

The latest update reveals code for three backlight modes: "Never" (always off), "Standard" (lights up for five seconds after a button press), and "Scheduled" (same as Standard but only between 6 PM and 6 AM).

Google launched its latest streaming device, simply dubbed the “Google TV Streamer.” Google officially discontinued the “Chromecast” moniker with the launch of its first TV box. The company released a small software update for the device about a month after the launch.

Supported Google TV remotes may also have a dedicated button for toggling the backlit controls, as per the report.
