Indian benchmark indices Nifty 50 and Sensex ended the previous trade session lower. Nifty ended at 22,945.30, while Sensex ended at 75,967.39. Overnight, Wall Street indices ended in the green. Asian stocks were poised for early losses today early morning.

Indian markets closed flat on February 18, recovering from early losses. The Nifty 50 fell 0.08% to 22,938 points, while the Sensex gained 0.04% to 76,023 points, indicating a ’buy on the dips’ strategy among investors.

The stock market fell into the red for the second consecutive time this week after opening on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, as PSU bank, oil & gas, and consumer durables stocks fell. At 9:20 am IST, the benchmark BSE Sensex was down 110.

The BSE Sensex closed at 75,967.39, down 29.47 points or 0.04 per cent from its previous close on Tuesday. NTPC, Zomato, Power Grid and Tech Mahindra were the top gainers.

The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a mildly negative start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 22,995 level, a discount of nearly 30 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.

The benchmark indices ended the day sharply lower, with the Nifty slipping below the 23,000 mark and the Sensex dropping below 76,000. The Sensex closed at 75,939, down 200 points, while the Nifty shed 102 points to end at 22,

Research at Hensex Securities, bulls are accumulating at lower levels, and we are witnessing the Nifty 50 and Sensex rebound from their current crucial support at 22,750 to 22,800 and 74,800, respectively.

In the early trade, Gift Nifty traded at 22,973.5, higher by 42 points or 0.18%. Meanwhile, most Asian shares traded in a narrow range as concern over US trade tariffs and their impact globally. US stock futures surged in Asian trade.

The Indian equity markets began the week on a negative note. The benchmark indices plunged on Monday morning as foreign investors continued to withdraw from the domestic markets and corporate earnings slowed down.

After an 8-day decline, bulls took charge on February 17, with Nifty 50 gaining 0.13% and Sensex increasing by 0.08%. Financials and pharma stocks contributed significantly, while mid-cap and small-cap stocks also rose.
