Recently, having joined the Dawnguard I thought sun magic would be the perfect touch to my play style. So far I only have sun fire, which I find to be disappointingly weak against undead when cast from one hand.

Apr 7, 2020 · heavy armor is the best for destruction mages because Ahzidal and Zahkriisos are both heavy armor dragon priest masks and they boost fire and lightning damage respectively by 25%, may as well go full heavy armor at that point. As for mage armor spells Dragonhide is the undisputed best one as it just gives 80% flat physical damage reduction.

You will only need Alteration for the Magic Armor spells. The more armoring you have, the better. In your play-style, I suggest a few tactics which will help.

Apr 20, 2020 · Hmmm, Arch Mage robes or Royal Vampire Armour is pretty good. Also if you get your enchanting skill high enough and learn the right enchantments, you can rock heavy armour with good magic enchantments. Also Spellbreaker is a must have, at least earlier on.

The Spellsword was your classic sword+spell warrior in armor, the Battlemage was the same but without armor (thus much more focussed on the magical side of things), while the Sorcerer was a pure Mage simply clad in heavy armor.
