Nick Brown is Washington State’s 19 th Attorney General, elected into office in November 2024. As Attorney General, Nick’s focus is on getting results that benefit Washington State residents and tangibly improve their lives.

In 2021, President Joe Biden nominated Nick to become the U.S. Attorney for Western Washington where he worked to fight drug cartels and sex trafficking, addressing the fentanyl crisis and reducing violent crime.

Attorney General Nick Brown is a graduate of Harvard Law, a former Army JAG lawyer and Bronze Star recipient who served as lead counsel for Governor Jay Inslee and then as U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Washington under President Biden.

The attorney general of Washington is the chief legal officer of the U.S. state of Washington and head of the Washington State Office of the Attorney General. The attorney general represents clients of the state and defends the public interest in accordance to state law.

He served as United States attorney for the Western District of Washington from October 2021 to June 21, 2023, and was elected the Attorney General for Washington in 2024. Brown is the first African American to serve as Attorney General of Washington.
