Kirtan, a form of devotional music from India, sung in a call and response style, comes from the chanting of the Vedas – sacred ancient Hindu texts. Chanted in a very precise manner, this was passed from generation to generation of brahmins. Now Kirtan is available to everyone despite gender, race, caste and religion.
